What Can You Give Your Child a Masterclass In?
I’ve always admired people who have a tangible skill — something they’ve mastered and can pass down effortlessly.
Now that I’m a mother, I think about this even more. How lucky are the children who get to learn from parents who are masters of their craft?
An aspiring athlete whose parent once played professionally.
A young baker whose mom or dad owns a bakery.
A future entrepreneur raised by parents who built something from the ground up.
Decades of skill and insight — taught firsthand, for free, and often without even realizing it. That kind of inheritance is priceless.
I used to think I didn’t have anything like that. I wasn’t the kid who stuck with one thing long enough to master it. I wanted to be a figure skater, a fashion designer, an artist… but I never stayed long enough to teach anyone else how to do it.
But motherhood changed how I see mastery.
I may not play a sport or an instrument, but I can give my son something just as valuable: a front-row seat to leadership, perseverance, and purpose.
He’ll grow up watching his mother build from scratch. He’ll see consistency, work ethic, and the power of vision. He’ll learn that leadership isn’t just about titles — it’s about how you carry yourself when no one’s watching.
And that’s something no tutor or coach can teach.
I’ve made it my mission to give him that — a legacy of leadership and faith that outlives me.
So maybe I don’t have a bakery or a basketball court to pass down. But I do have a lifetime of lessons in leading with courage, purpose, and grace.
And when my son looks back one day, I hope he realizes —
he’s been getting a masterclass in leadership all along.
Now I’ll turn the question to you:
What are you giving your child a masterclass in?
Because whether you realize it or not, they’re already learning — every single day.
